Kind Words

This note was recently sent to us from a supporter and I wanted to share it with all of you:

“I feel very sad for teens in crisis in this province.  I have experienced many
sad times in my life with a bi-polar father and I also have symptoms myself.
I was diagnosed in 1986.  I take medication now for seven years.  I have
experienced many years of domestic violence in the family home and the
common law home.  Males with the disorder are violent without medication.
I hope that teens can find counseling as a good source of help.  Also there
needs to be a lot of attention made to changing their lifestyle.  More
sleep, rehab and job skills.  Nothing is finer than seeing a former street
kid find their way to a better & stronger lifestyle.  No one expects change
overnight but it is always better to try your best.  The drug & sex trade are
not a way to go.  Dangerous people are a serious factor here. Self respect
and safety are number one priorities in anyone's life.

Best of luck to Covenant House in 2011 and beyond!  This is a place of healing!”
