Sometimes a pair of shoes makes all the difference

We had a young gentleman come in on a cold, Sunday evening. He had been robbed earlier in the evening while sleeping in a park. He had his shoes taken. The young man came to us very distraught, understanding that it is very cold out now that it is winter.

The team leader was able to go downstairs and find a new pair of shoes for the youth. When interacting with the youth and giving him the shoes, the youth was very appreciative and very thankful that he would be able to get through the night without being cold and being able to maneuver and get himself around the downtown core. He could keep himself warm having shoes.

So, you know, just a small story of how we’re able to help a youth who doesn’t want to stay with us and who we see quite often, who was again mistreated by people out on the streets but got some support here at CHV.
