In celebration of their Summer ‘Body & Soul’ Magazine Issue, I Like Her Style Vancouver is pleased to announce this celebratory event in support of a cause with soul.
Earlier this Spring, ILHSV co-founder Jody Belanger took part in Covenant House Vancouver’s Annual Sleep Out, where she slept overnight on the streets of Vancouver along with a list of other women who raised funds and awareness for the organization’s programs.
After understanding the pain and discomfort of sleeping on the street with just cardboard for her mattress (even if only for one night), Jody was amazed to hear that many of the youth who seek out Covenant House’s services still get up and go to school the next morning. The youth that Jody was able to meet during her visit had left home for tragic reasons.
Jody’s interest was piqued when she heard that Covenant House hosts a monthly ‘Girls Night’, where the female youth have a chance to select items from the facility’s donated clothing. With a background in fashion and a heart wanting to help, Jody knew that I Like Her Style Vancouver had to get involved!
Their August 12th event will be a clothing drive for this very cause. We ask that guests bring well-cared-for used or new clothing donations. We will also collect cash donations at the event.
On August 21st, I Like Her Style Vancouver is honored to take part in Covenant House’s Girl’s Night, where we will bestow the donated clothing on the homeless youth in attendance, along with some special treats, an empowering speech, and styling by our very own Jody! She wants our young ladies to begin their September by going back to school with confidence - helping them look AND feel better so that they find themselves in a place where goal setting and achieving is possible!
