Cook - Casual
The cook prepares meals for youth and staff and maintains orderliness in the food service areas.
- Prepare food from a raw to cooked state in a safe, hygienic manner while maintaining nutritional content and palatability
- Prepare lunch/weekend brunch, dinner, dessert, and snack daily for residential youth and program staff (approx 25-28 people)
- Office catering as requested
- Maintain a safe and clean food preparation area
- Clean kitchen on a daily basis (stove, milk machine, etc.)
- Clean kitchen equipment in accordance with weekly schedule
- Clean and organize freezers, fridges and storage rooms weekly
- Intake and check orders from suppliers
- Intake and record donations
- Other duties as assigned
- Education - 1 year basic cooking skills
- A provincial or other vocational or professional certificate/degree is preferred.
- Food Safe certificate
- Good interpersonal skills
- Comfortable interacting with street youth
Must be available to work Sunday – Saturday 7am – 6pm.
