Job Function: 

The cook prepares meals for youth and staff and maintains orderliness in the food service areas.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepare food from a raw to cooked state in a safe, hygienic manner while maintaining nutritional content and palatability
  • Prepare lunch/weekend brunch, dinner, dessert, and snack daily for residential youth and program staff (approx 25-28 people)
  • Office catering as requested
  • Maintain a safe and clean food preparation area
  • Clean kitchen on a daily basis (stove, milk machine, etc.)
  • Clean kitchen equipment in accordance with weekly schedule
  • Clean and organize freezers, fridges and storage rooms weekly
  • Intake and check orders from suppliers
  • Intake and record donations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: 
  •  Education - 1 year basic cooking skills
  • A provincial or other vocational or professional certificate/degree is preferred.
  • Food Safe certificate
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable interacting with street youth
Shifts/Hours: 

Must be available to work Sunday – Saturday 7am – 6pm.
