Take a virtual tour of Covenant House Vancouver

Founded in 1997 Covenant House Vancouver offers a clear exit from life on the street to youth aged
16 - 24. We make this possible through a carefully designed continuum of care including a daily drop-in, a 54 bed crisis shelter, transitional housing, drug & alcohol counseling, life-skills training and support with mental health concerns.

By providing a virtual tour we are hoping to offer the community a better understanding of what we do on a daily basis at Covenant House Vancouver.

Drake Street Building

Covenant House Vancouver runs all of its programs out of 2 buildings. Our Drake street building houses our Outreach team, Drop-In Centre, 22 of our shelter beds, and our mental health and housing programs. Our Pender street building houses Rights of Passage, 32 shelter beds and some support services.

Outreach Worker

The goal of the Outreach team is to seek out those young people who are living on the streets. The Outreach team methodically builds trusting relationships with young people, meeting them where they are: on the street. Travelling on foot, outreach workers are often the "face" of Covenant House and they take great care to connect with youth, always encouraging them to come to our Shelter or...

Drop-In Centre

The Drop-In program provides an array of "as-needed" services to young people aged 13 - 24 and always responds to a young person's most immediate needs first, striving to respond with "let's see what we can do" rather than "we don't do that here". At our Drop-In youth can receive food, clothing, hygiene supplies, counseling and help with a variety of life skills.

Nutritious Food

Thanks to our team of dedicated cooks our youth enjoy warm and health meals/snacks. At Covenant House, we believe that when youth don’t have to worry about when they are getting their next meal they can better focus on other issues.

Shelter Bedroom

Our 54-bed crisis shelter offers safe housing, food, clothing and counseling to young people aged 16 - 22 on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon intake, we see to a young person's immediate needs first, which is usually medical attention, food and rest. After three days, a youth worker sits down with the young person to learn about what brought them to Covenant House and to see how we can...

Shelter Common Space

We strive to make our Shelter as youth friendly as possible. When young people are not working on their individual plans they have a safe place to relax in. Thanks to donors our youth can enjoy playing games, creating art and watching TV.

ROP Suite

Rights of Passage (ROP) is a transitional living program that provides 6 - 24 months of supported living to young people who need guidance, structure and support as they strive towards independence. ROP provides our young people with a safe and affordable home in a community setting that allows them to improve their life and social skills in a nurturing, supportive environment. ...

Shared Kitchen In ROP

Above is a picture of a shared Kitchen at ROP where youth can practice their cooking skills. Many of the young people we serve are not ready to live independently; they lack the basic life skills most of us take for granted: budgeting, saving, cooking, cleaning, goal setting etc. ROP prepares youth to live as independent adults.
