Rights of Passage (ROP)
Rights of Passage (ROP) is a transitional living program that provides 6 - 24 months of supported living to young people who need guidance, structure and support as they strive towards independence. Many of the young people we serve are not ready to live independently; they lack the basic life skills most of take for granted: budgeting, saving, cooking, cleaning, goal setting etc.
Likewise, most of our youth require counselling and additional support as they attempt to heal from the abuses of their past. To address this need, ROP provides youth workers who are available 24 hours/day to ensure that participants are following their plans and keeping well.
ROP provides our young people with a safe and affordable home in a community setting that allows them to improve their life and social skills in a nurturing, supportive environment. The Rights of Passage philosophy is based on the premise that all young people have the right to be accompanied into adulthood by loving and caring adults.
"lived in covey in Vancouver b.c. n then moved into their rop program I lived there for 1n a half yrs it was a good experience and gave me the tools I needed to achieve the level of success I have achieved today!!!! I currently have achieved my red seal as a chef I have my daughter for the summers and am expecting my 2nd child with my new wife who I have been married to for 1 yr but known for 11 yrs.... without the staff at ROP Vancouver (Rob & Yvonne especially!!! love u guys) I do not think I would have achieved anywhere close to my current accomplishments or be alive for that matter I only hope that you can continue to help at risk youth who were as hopeless as i was"
