Testimonials From Our Staff

I started working as a Building Service Worker for the Covenant House since Dec. 2002. Today in our Canadian society some of our youth need help. That is why we work here. All the Departments do different tasks to help our young people. Some of the youth may need a clean bed to sleep, eat a good meal, take a shower and use a clean toilet, wear new clothes or to tell their stories and get help. We have got everything they need in the Covenant House. And I am very happy to do my part to help.Jay, Building Services Worker |

I have been working for Covenant House Vancouver for over a year in their Development Department. My job is to gain support for our programs and services in the community. The dedication of our staff and their unconditional love and respect for our youth is an inspiration to me. I am happy to come to work every day knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of so many young men and women. Crystal, Development Officer |

I can honestly say that when I first joined on at CHV, it was because I needed a part-time Job while attending university—had to pay the bills. Within a very short amount of time, I fell in love with the culture of Covenant House and found myself seeking a permanent position. The genuine care for the youth of whom we provide service, but also for one another as member s of the CHV family is what has kept me invested in this agency. I thank my lucky stars on a regular basis that I work for such a great organization. It is an incredibly unique place to work; one with many unique opportunities for career development as well. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to tell people that I work for Covenant House Vancouver. I came to Covenant House in February 2007 from the corporate world where success and satisfaction are measured by how much money the company made. At Covenant House, our success is measured by how many youth we feed, house, clothe, counsel and befriend. I came here because I wanted to help make a difference in the lives of our youth. I'm staying here because we have an incredible core of dedicated staff who all feel the same way and we are making that difference! At the end of every day, I sincerely feel great about what I do for a living and I am proud to tell people. Connie, Controller |

I have been at Covenant House Rights of Passage for 3 years and I love working here. I have worked in this field for many years and I have never experienced what I do at Covenant House in other agencies. All staff in every department at Covenant House has the same goals; working for the youth we serve daily. The five Covenant Principles Immediacy, Sanctuary, Value Communication, Structure and Choice are the same as I use in my daily life. There is so many wonderful and dedicated staff that I work with it makes my job so much easier. Yvonne, Team Leader, Rights of Passage |

I started with Covenant House Vancouver as a fulltime volunteer (Faith Community) for 16 months. I dealt with donors and worked on the database in donations department and welcome youth in our drop-in centre. I experienced walking through the streets of downtown Vancouver to help youth and invite them to come to check us out. In the shelter, I worked as a youth worker and as a team leader for a number of years and recently I moved to my new position as an Assistant Manager. All my life I worked in corporate world, I had a great career but not as content where I am now. I believe that I found my vocation in working with homeless, at-risk youth. I feel this is the most rewarding work I've ever done in my life. Can't you tell? I am here for 8 years now and everyday feels like my first day at work. Pinky, Assistant Manager, Crisis Shelter |
