SFU Student Marketing Association’s No Home 2011 Campaign a Huge Success

SFU Student Marketing Association members worked tirelessly on behalf of Covenant House, generating awareness of youth homelessness and a significant donation totaling $8519.18!

I had the pleasure of working with a dedicated executive council as they planned and executed a fundraising campaign while carrying a full course load during the winter semester.  The campaign culminated with a group of students going “homeless” for 24 hours in downtown Vancouver on March 12th.  Participating students sought pledges from individuals and offered a sponsorship package to corporations and businesses.  Media coverage was extensive; individuals from TV, radio and print media outlets interviewed students during the 24 hours they spent outside.

I’d like to give a big shout out to all the participating students – in particular David Yuen & Joanne Leung.  Congratulations on a job well done and for the Student Marketing Association’s belief in the work we do with homeless youth!
