The Importance of Giving Thanks

This letter was into us by a supporter to help encourage our young people but I think it is a great reminder for us all.

“Hello,

You are young and I am old. If you are at Covenant House there has been some trouble in your short life – for which I am truly sorry. However now that you are there it is a good time to say “thank you” to the universe for what you have.

You may think you have nothing but everyone has “something” even if it is a small “something”. If you have eyes and can see the flowers & trees & Sky – give thanks. If you have legs & arms – give thanks. If you have a voice & can speak – give thanks. If you have food – give thanks.

If there is something you really, really want – give thanks even though you haven’t got it yet. Before you go to sleep see how many things you can be thankful for. When you do this suddenly you find you are saying thank you in your mind all day, for all sorts of things & you will feel much happier.

I send you love & hugs & wish for you a beautiful & happy life.

Your friend,
Betty”
