Covenant House Ambassador Volunteer Position

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Covenant House Ambassador is assigned to perform specific fundraising and educational presentations on behalf of Covenant House Vancouver.  This position is designed to raise funds for Covenant House Vancouver and increase the awareness of the organization through these presentations to donors and prospects (individuals, corporations, community groups, etc.) and conduct research on potential sources of revenue in the Vancouver Island area.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Assist in the identification of potential presentation groups and individuals either through current giving, previous giving, previous interest, or perceived interest.

Conduct research on potential sources of revenue in the geographic region of the satellite office

Administration

Maintain ongoing communication with the Development Officer about the status of speaking engagements.

Familiarize yourself with Covenant House, our mission, vision and strategic plan, as well as the tools necessary to deliver the presentations i.e. PowerPoint, LCD projector, overheads, handouts, printed materials etc.

Work closely with Covenant House staff for continued planning and development of the program.

Ensure that all audio/video equipment and handout materials are safely stored and accounted for.

If applicable, obtain the contact information for the person(s) responsible for arranging speaking engagements.

If they are able to host a session, obtain the date that they would like to book, as well as the time, address and length of time that you would be speaking for.

If applicable, identify the A/V requirements of the audience (screen, projector, power source, etc.)

Forwarding contact details to Covenant House for entry into the Raisers Edge database.

For current donors:

Respond to requests for donor contact from the Development Officer.

Put together information packages of prepared documents (i.e.) newsletter / annual reports / tax receipts, etc 

Answer any questions and steward relationships as necessary.

Report back to Covenant House after any meetings for entry into the Raisers Edge database.

Qualifications & Requirements

-Fundraising, promotional and/or marketing skills
-Effective interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills
-Able to represent Covenant House Vancouver in a professional manner
-Demonstrated research ability
-A willingness to be a team member
-Knowledge of the issue of youth homelessness
-Ability to work with diverse groups of people
-Commitment to the goals and objectives of the Covenant House Ambassador program
-A willingness to undertake training and to participate in other tasks as required
-An enthusiasm for personal development
-Willingness to travel throughout the Vancouver Island area
-Ability to offer up to five outings per month
-Please note that this position requires a minimum commitment of six months
