A Shout-out to Lord Tweedsmuir Elementary’s Grade 4/5/6 Montessori Class

Last month I was invited to share the Covenant House story with Chris Weber’s students in grades 4, 5 and 6 in the Montessori program at Lord Tweedsmuir Elementary School.  I illustrated our programs and services using a PowerPoint photo tour of Covenant House which prompted a lively question and answer session afterwards.  I’ve yet to cease being amazed by students’ desire to know how we help street youth; I was asked many insightful questions that were well beyond their years!

Last week Chris emailed me to invite me back to his class for a cheque presentation.  He let me know that his students put their desire to help Covenant House into action by holding a chocolate bar fundraiser.  They rallied parents, friends, relatives and neighbours to support their cause and raised a total of $1,000 that they split between Covenant House Vancouver and one other charity!

Covenant House is grateful to all the students in Chris Weber’s class for their hard work fundraising and the generous gift of $500.  Have a great summer holiday; you earned it!
