Gifts of Joy and Freedom

How to offer a healthy taste of freedom to young people learning to live independently? The Chopra Yoga Center Vancouver, the Mount Seymour Soccer Association, Ride On Again Bikes, R@R Promotions and the Rick and Sue Foundation have figured this out. These organizations have donated wonderful items to help increase the youth’s health and wellness including yoga passes, soccer uniforms, water bottles, hats and 5 sturdy bikes.

The word “yoga” means “union of the mind, body and spirit”. We all would like to have this experience I expect, and most certainly youth who have had a difficult journey in their young lives. Deepak Chopra and David Simon say, “Yoga will help you discover gifts within yourself that have remained unopened since your childhood – the gifts of peace, harmony, laughter and love.”

Now we can imagine a little troupe of uniform clad Covenant House Vancouver soccer playing youth, breezing through the downtown streets by bike, on their way to the Chopra Yoga Center to relieve some soccer joint stiffness and a bit of work stress. They are probably calculating how much money they’ve saved on bus passes by biking to work, or on second thoughts they’re just enjoying the sheer freedom of going like the wind down the Howe Street bike lane.

A big thank you to all donors that made this possible!
