“Covenant House is Hope for the World” Says President Obama

Kevin Ryan, CEO of Covenant House International attended the White House Easter Prayer Breakfast and wanted to share this message:

“I attended the White House Easter Prayer Breakfast today and visited for a bit with President Obama one-on-one. He very specifically asked me to convey to the men and women who lead and support Covenant House and Casa Alianza that he admires and supports the work, and was especially appreciative of our work to fight human trafficking across our 6 countries.

It was inspiring to join with other faith based leaders and offer up a prayer for the homeless and trafficked youth of the world.  As I looked out to the audience and saw the leaders of our faith traditions, including my own, I was reminded that the things which unify us are more powerful than those which distinguish us. I trust in our common humanity and our belief in a loving God who cares for each of us and our kids.

On this 44th anniversary morning of Dr. King’s assassination and in this 150th anniversary year of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and this 40th anniversary year of Covenant House’s founding, the President’s exact words to me were “Covenant House is hope for the world.”

Thanks for being a part of this movement of hope.” – Kevin Ryan, CEO of Covenant House International
