A fun and healthy activity for Saturday nights

For over the past year my co-worker Freeman has been running a cooking group every Saturday night in our Covenant House kitchen. The success of this group is unbelievable. I often remind him of how proud he should be for providing a healthy activity to our residents as well as teaching them important life skills. He really exemplifies our principle of Choice (learn about our Principles here). Because of him every Saturday night youth are making crepes, bannock, empanadas, and so on and so forth instead of spending time out on the streets. It is really cool to work with people like this and I am especially thrilled when the youth come upstairs and present their creations to me! The food always tastes great but the best part is how proud they look when they share what they made. – Blaine, Team Leader
