Our youth have an amazing experience at a Vancouver Whitecaps match!

We had a group of youth go to the Vancouver Whitecaps game in a suite on Saturday May 28th, courtesy of a Covenant House Vancouver donor. The donor gave us 16 tickets to take the youth to see the ‘Caps play the Houston Dynamo. We had 2 staff and 14 youth attend, and all the youth said they loved it. There was juice, pizza, and popcorn, which was a huge bonus. Everyone said they had never been to a live soccer game before, and a big chunk of them had never been to any kind of professional sporting event. It was a bit of a rough game, but the youth really enjoyed seeing (at least) 4 yellow cards, 2 red cards, and an overall well-fought match. They really got into the atmosphere of the crowd by cheering loudly for our gorgeous goal. The youth learned a few of the cheers that the Southsiders were leading, and they sang along with the crowd. One of the youth was a supporter of the Houston side, and he was getting gently heckled (in a friendly way) by the rest of the youth.

Overall, it was an awesome game. The youth were very well-behaved, very appreciative, and wanted us to pass along their sincere thanks to the donor for the tickets.
