Recently five youth from our Rights of Passage Program had the opportunity to go on a sailing adventure. Bruce Chan who is a long-time supporter of Covenant House Vancouver reached out to us and offered to take our youth out on his 36 foot racing sailboat.
The group tried to chase the wind and they went under the Lions Gate Bridge and then headed south towards Jericho Beach. The youth had a fantastic time and Bruce even provided yummy sandwiches and chips. One young person said they use to go sailing often when they were younger and they were excited to have an opportunity to be back on a sailboat. Another young person had never been on a sailboat before, and was not sure if they would enjoy it but they ended up having a great time and became comfortable being on a boat.
