Weekend Manager, Crisis Program

Covenant House Vancouver is the premier provider of residential and support services for our city’s homeless youth, and we are growing! You will be joining a team of dedicated and committed people whose mission is to help at-risk young people move off the streets and on to independence.

In order to be hired at Covenant House Vancouver as an employee, practicum student, or volunteer, candidates must provide evidence of full courses of Health-Canada approved vaccinations prior to starting their first shift.

The Manager, Crisis Program (Weekend) role is to manage all aspects of direct service in the Residential Crisis Program.  Responsibilities include oversight of crisis program operations and service delivery procedures; working with the Associate Director, Youth Services to develop program, case management and policy and procedures. Ensure the safety of all staff and clients as well as adherence to the Mission, Principles, philosophy and policies of Covenant House. Is a member of the Program Management Team and attends all required agency team meetings.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide input and planning for Service Plan including program and budget development
  • Accountable for department spending and staff usage (monthly reports “actual to budget” provided by Finance Dept)
  • Oversee the collection, reporting and evaluation of client statistical information – ensure data is accurate and complete
  • Attend intra-agency and program related meetings as required
  • Liaison with department Managers and staff from development and communications, finance, payroll, administration, operations, food services and volunteer services
  • Liaison as required with Facilities Manger concerning physical plant maintenance, renovations, security procedures, stock inventory and equipment and requisition supplies
  • Operational, administrative and process problem solving as required
  • Direct supervision of Team Leaders
  • Responsible for monitoring of staff morale, including identification of trends, and promoting staff and work place health
  • Interview and hire weekend crisis program program staff – internal and external
  • Interview and select field placement students
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times
  • Provide or access training for the team as well as for individual staff needs
  • Ensure accessibility to necessary information resources, training manuals, logs, TL logs
  • Ensure volunteers adequately oriented to the Weekend Crisis Program and trained for their position
  • Support and maintain positive and effective working relationship with Case Management Services
  • Attend Youth Advisory Committee meetings periodically
  • Work with managers of other program departments to support the continuum of care for youth within CHV
  • Maintain a relationship with other related service providers and problem solve with community service providers as required
  • Other duties as required


Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate/ masters degree in related social sciences / service is preferred
  • A provincial or other vocational/professional certificate/degree is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years related management experience preferably in a residential setting for hard to service youth population
