Development Associate, Legacy Giving (Contract)

Covenant House Vancouver is the premier provider of residential and support services for our city’s homeless youth, and we are growing! You will be joining a team of dedicated and committed people whose mission is to help at-risk young people move off the streets and on to independence.

Responsible for assisting in the administrative aspects and implementing activities to support and raise awareness for Covenant House Vancouver’s Legacy Giving Program, including estate administration.


Job Description  

  • Responsible for the estate administration of legacy gifts, primarily bequests 
  • Provide administrative support for the In Honour/In Memorial Program and gifting of securities 
  • Administer the Legacy Giving information program that identifies prospects: mailing/e-mailing information to supporters, response tracking, account coding, scheduling follow ups for manager 
  • Maintain and organize legacy/estate donor information files (electronic and hard copy) in the current file management and database system (Raiser’s Edge and SharePoint) 
  • Communicate with our donor family via email, letters, and over the phone 
  • Other administrative duties as required 


  • Experience in estate administration an asset 
  • One to two years of related administrative experience 


  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and work off-site 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proven track record of working with multiple deadlines 
  • Accountable and analytical 
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred 
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
