We are seeking a motivated administrative professional who will value working together with a small team who are passionate about Human Resources.



The Human Resources Assistant is the backbone of our HR department, ensuring the smooth operation of the department. Working as a part of a collaborative team, you will provide exceptional internal and external customer service and administrative support for the department and Covenant House employees, as well as back-up and project support to the office of the Executive Director. Duties will include:

  • Assist and redirect employees who visit the department
  • Act as department expert in maintenance of employee information in Kronos HRIS system, and provide user assistance to managers
  • Provide benefits administration and assistance to employees
  • Assist in the recruiting process, including phone interviews, reference checks, background checks, and offers of employment
  • Coordinate training sessions
  • Administer employee recognition program
  • Prepare and send out online employee surveys
  • Maintain electronic employee and departmental files, ensuring accordance with relevant legislation and policies
  • Provide HRIS and other data reports
  • Be cross-trained to provide back up admin and project support to the Executive office (Office of the Executive Director)
  • Assist with various HR projects
  • Support other HR team members with administrative and other tasks


  • 2 – 4 years in an administrative capacity
  • Diploma/degree in Human Resources or Business Administration an asset
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Strong customer service, administrative, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate skills in Excel, Outlook, SharePoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to establish trust and rapport with employees at all levels
  • Ability to prioritize while maintaining professionalism and composure at all times
  • Self-starter; proactive about asking for and giving help
