About Covenant House Vancouver

Since 1997, Covenant House Vancouver has provided relentless support for youth experiencing, or at-risk of experiencing, homelessness. We provide support to young people age 16 to 24 who have experienced a wide range of early life and ongoing, complex trauma; including physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. Our purpose is to serve all youth, with absolute respect and unconditional love, to help youth experiencing homelessness, and provide a safe and supportive environment for all youth in need.

 

This is a Canada Summer Jobs position. This position will be for a period of 8 weeks, 35 hours per week. In order to be eligible for this position you must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment ; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

 

 

The Impact the Human Resources Project Assistant can make:

The Human Resources Project Assistant will work closely with all members of our People & Culture Team on ongoing projects. You will be responsible for ensuring all ongoing projects are executed in a timely manner and completed to a high standard.

How you will contribute:

  • Improve and update Job Descriptions
  • Complete employer branding updates, such as updating internal documents
  • Clean up and improve HR processes and internal systems
  • Work Collaboratively with department members and managers to ensure maximum productivity
  • Organise and monitor your schedule to ensure deadlines are met
  • Provide updates to management
  • Complete any necessary administrative tasks
  • Other duties as required

 

Who we are looking for?

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in an administrative / project assistant capacity is welcomed but not required
  • Experience within a HR team is welcomed but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to expert skills in Excel, Outlook, SharePoint

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong administrative, and organizational skills
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment while maintaining professionalism and composure at all times
