Team Leader – Overnights (Female Applicants Only)

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of homeless and at-risk youth?  Covenant House Vancouver is the premier provider of residential and support services for our city’s homeless youth, and we are growing! You will be joining a team of dedicated and committed youth workers whose mission is to help at-risk young people move off the streets and on to independence.

The youth worker is responsible for the direct implementation of Covenant House Vancouver’s philosophy, policies and principles as they pertain to client care. The youth worker oversees building activity, including client, program, building security, operations and community relations. Provide services to youth living on the street and/or in the community.


Job Function:

The Team Leader is responsible for operation of Crisis Shelter and Youth Workers on Shift and for direct implementation of Covenant House philosophy and policies as they pertain to residential care


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direct implementation of Covenant House philosophy and policies as they pertain to residential care
  • Assign shift responsibilities and duties
  • Coordinate intakes, assessment, discharges
  • Assign shift responsibilities and duties
  • Coordinate intakes, assessments, discharges
  • Ensure structure and adherence to daily routines
  • Ensure quality control in case management
  • Manage crisis intervention including briefing, debriefing
  • Facilitate team meetings including shift change
  • Supervise youth workers on shift
  • Co-ordinate youth workers on shift
  • Oversee therapeutic milieu
  • Ensure adherence to and role model Covenant House principles and core values
  • Ensure safety and security of clients, staff and property
  • Regular security checks of interior and exterior of building
  • Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 year diploma or degree in related social service practice or social science including but not limited to child & Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Criminology or Criminal Justice
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience in residential care settings
  • Training in crisis intervention
  • Familiarity with runaway/ street-involved youth issues
  • Leadership and team building skills
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Schedule: Overnights – Saturday to Monday & every other Tuesday (76hrs bi weekly)
