About Covenant House
Since 1997, Covenant House Vancouver has provided essential and relentless support for youth experiencing, or at-risk of experiencing, homelessness. We provide support to youth ages 16 to 24 who have experienced a wide range of early life and ongoing, complex trauma including physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and neglect. Our purpose is to serve all youth with absolute respect and unconditional love, to help youth experiencing homelessness, and provide a safe and supportive environment for all youth in need.
The Impact a Philanthropy Associate with the Major Gifts Team can make:
As a Philanthropy Associate with our Major Gifts Team, you will be responsible for ensuring exemplary donations administration and customer service to our donors in the Major Gifts portfolio. You will also participate in creating and executing group stewardship events and communication.
Our Philanthropy team is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment where you can develop new skills and follow your passions. We value new ideas and approaches to working with our supporters and each other.
How you will contribute:
- Answer the general donations phone line in a warm and helpful manner to assist donors with their requests and concerns, adding notes into CHV’s database regarding calls and follow-up tasks
- Respond to emails sent to the general email inbox, helping our supporters with their inquiries about CHV and their donations
- Perform administrative tasks for the philanthropy teams including data entry into Raiser’s Edge, sending mail, making thank you calls to donors, and performing mail-merges for donor communications
- Balance and prioritize your workload of multiple tasks and projects
- Learn about youth stories and updates to CHV’s programs and share them with donors, including the impact that their donations have in the lives of youth experiencing homelessness
- Support the planning of donor engagement gatherings and fundraising events
- Support projects and working groups to contribute to the Philanthropy, Communication, and Marketing team’s overall goals
- Other duties as required
Who are we looking for?
Education and Experience:
- College, University, or professional certificate degree, or equivalent experience in a customer service or administrative support role
- One to two years of related administration experience
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge database software is an asset
- Experience working for a non-profit and/or in an office environment is an asset
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills; both written and verbal
- Organization and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a supportive team environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Passion for supporting youth experiencing homelessness

The starting salary range for this position is $21.93 – $27.41 / hour
