Covenant House is a premier provider of shelter and other services thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff and volunteers. It is through their efforts that we are able to help young people at risk establish a foothold on a new life. Staff members of Covenant House Vancouver:
- Bring alive our Mission Statement;
- Provide direct care for youngsters in keeping with the Covenant Principles;
- Fulfill our commitment to serve the suffering children of the street.
We recognize that each member of our team plays an important role in establishing the Covenant relationship and implementing its principles with the youth whom we serve. These same principles create a positive and productive working environment as they apply to our interactions with our colleagues and serve as a guide for our operating function.

Our Five Principles and how they relate to Staff
Immediacy: We will respond to the needs of our colleagues at all levels with a sense of immediacy, in style and in practice. We will be flexible in recognising and responding to each other's concern's, as they arise.
Sanctuary: In our interactions with staff, we are responsible for maintaining our dignity, and respecting the dignity of staff, especially in times of confrontation. We commit to our staff and volunteers our best efforts to a safe and secure working environment.
Value Communication: Our interaction with all staff members will be conducted in an atmosphere of respect, caring and development, so that we facilitate growth for those involved. Staff and volunteers are the role models for the youth.
Structure: Staff and volunteers are supported by policies and procedures which form an operating structure and promote consistency throughout the agency.
Choice: The principle of Choice is fundamental to our desire and effort to develop positive solutions to the challenges and problems facing our youth and staff. To this end we will provide opportunities for staff input in planning our services.
