Below are our current volunteer opportunities:
Tutoring
This position is subject dependent (the most popular being math and English). If your area of expertise is a different subject area, contact us.
- Provide one-to-one support for a youth in our programs by guiding them on subjects they need help with
- Meet a youth where they are at in their studies and provide personalized guidance onsite at CHV
Food Services Volunteer
The Food Services department serves 3 meals per day to the youth that stay at Covenant House.
- Assist the Food Services team with food preparation and general kitchen operations (e.g. slicing bread, preparing fruit and vegetables, washing dishes, serving meals)
- FOODSAFE certificate and kitchen experience is preferred but not essential
- Shifts are available for morning, afternoon, and evening mealtimes, throughout the week and weekends
CSS Drop-In Centre Server
Our Drop-In Centre is open 365 days a year and provides a space for Vancouver youth to come and take a hot shower, have a warm meal, and use other services.
- Serve meals during the Drop-In Centre’s hours of operations food
- No experience required, flexible schedule
Excursion Leaders
- Take youth in programs to various fun activities around Vancouver (i.e. visit Capilano Suspension Bridge, a Stanley Park bike ride, a café visit, a bowling outing.)
- Those who apply should be outgoing and comfortable with leading a group
- Needed for Tuesday and Thursday evenings
- No experience required
Gifts-In-Kind Assistant
Our Gifts-In-Kind department receives a large amount of donations, everything from clothes to hygiene supplies to unique items youth need. They also oversee the clothing room that youth can access to find items they may need.
- Sort and organize incoming donations
- No experience required
Healthcare Support Volunteer
- Support youth with a positive health journey by providing professional aid (i.e. physiotherapists, chiropractors, dentists or any other trained professionals)
- trained and certified professionals only
