First-ever Metro Vancouver Youth Homeless Count starts today!

The first-ever Youth Homeless Count in Metro Vancouver takes place throughout the region today until April 12th.

Anonymous surveys will be conducted over a nine-day period at youth centres, high schools, shelters and other youth-serving organizations to better understand the homeless youth population.

The Youth Homeless Count represents a comprehensive snapshot of youth who are homeless in the Metro Vancouver region and has three main goals:

  • To collect accurate data on the number of youth who are homeless in the region to assist government agencies and organizations in responding with appropriate policies and services.
  • To understand the causes and conditions that lead to youth homelessness in the region.
  • To raise awareness of the incidence and issues of youth homelessness and demonstrate the need for enhanced government support and solutions.

Our Drop-in Centre will be hosting a fun afternoon today from 2:00pm until 4:45pm with a drum circle, Chinese food buffet and other fun activities.
