Thanking the Mischa Weisz Foundation for supporting youth in our community!

Before he passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2009, Mischa Weisz created a charitable foundation so his philanthropic spirit could live on. During his life, Mischa was a father, philanthropist, and successful entrepreneur who founded TNS Smart Network. The causes that were closest to his heart included those that help disadvantaged children and Covenant House Vancouver is incredibly grateful to once again receive the support of the Mischa Weisz Foundation.

Since 2012, the Mischa Weisz Foundation has supported the young men and women in our Rights of Passage program. Rights of Passage exists for those youth who otherwise would be unable to live on their own. While many of us were fortunate to grow up with loving parents who nurtured us and taught us the tools that we need to live independently, many homeless youth were never given this opportunity. Skills such as cleaning, cooking, budgeting, and managing relationships with roommates and landlords are all critical if youth are to be expected to live independently and be free from street life.

The foundation recently made a gift of $15,000 to honour the memory of Mischa Weisz. This donation will help provide our young people with a safe place to live, while they learn the skills that are so important for independent adulthood. We are incredibly grateful to the Mischa Weisz Foundation and know his generosity will live on in the many lives the foundation’s support is helping to change.
