Sometimes all a person needs is a helping hand….

Regan was a refugee from another country. She came to us with nowhere else to go and without knowing anyone else in Vancouver.

One of Covenant House’s key principles is “Immediacy”, and we were able to put this principle into action by offering Regan a place to stay in our Crisis Program.

While with us, Regan was able to obtain her work visa, and applied for and obtained permanent residency status.

We helped her to find and connect with others from her home culture, find a place to practice her religion, and to celebrate her culture’s holidays.

After getting her work visa, Regan was determined to find employment and was able to secure two jobs. Once she had found employment, she was able to work alongside our Housing Workers to find her own apartment.

We are so glad we could offer a helping hand to her when she needed it most!
