Mahir came to us from Syria and was needed some support. Covenant House Vancouver offers many services from food to housing and wrap-around care like life skills. We were working with Mahir in a variety of ways but he had a special request.
Mahir had never learned to swim and had always wanted to learn. Our Case Management and Social Work Teams explored what resources were available to support this request. After lots of searching, the team was able to find an organization that would pay for Mahir to have these lessons.
Mahir attended all his swimming lessons and was incredibly thankful to the team for providing him with the opportunity to learn this new skill.
