In July of 2021, Ryan Gauld travelled from Scotland to Vancouver to join the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He played his first full season in 2022 and was named the club’s Player of the Year.
Settling into the city that he calls his new home, Ryan is as active off the field as he is on. Taking an interest in youth homelessness, Ryan became a CHV donor.
Now, the midfielder has been called up to Scotland’s men’s national team for upcoming UEFA Nations League matches this month. Ryan’s first game in Scotland was played on September 5th. His next scheduled game will be on Sunday.
Previously, Ryan has played for Scotland’s U-19 and U-21 teams, but this will be his debut for Scotland’s senior team.
Ryan has made the most goal contributions for the Whitecaps’ MLS era, with 36 goals and 43 assists across all competitions. He is also the club’s leader in assists in the MLS era, and has helped the Whitecaps secure two Canadian Championships, since coming to Vancouver.
Congratulations Ryan!
