The Invisible Work

Homelessness that doesn’t happen, doesn’t make the headlines.

The Warm Embrace

A young person shouldn’t have to choose between who they are and where they’re safe.

The Bridge Back

A young person’s journey doesn’t end here. Neither does our support.

Your donation today will help us:

  • Provide a young person with a place to turn to for help before a crisis happens
  • Advocate for youth in need, locally and nationally, to address the root causes of homelessness
  • Support families so that youth don’t end up on the streets
  • Reform policy that leads to youth slipping through the cracks

Covenant House Vancouver serves approx. 160 youth, every day.

You can stop homelessness before it starts.

The Invisible Work is about getting ahead of the problem. At CHV, we are working to provide supports to youth and families, and improving systems to stop youth from entering the streets. Our goal is to create transformative change.

Riley’s Story

Riley’s life at home was abusive. Their controlling father was constantly pressuring and criticizing Riley, which made the home tense. Riley’s basic needs were often denied. The stress and abuse were becoming too much, so Riley had no choice but to leave. CHV was there for Riley when they had nowhere else to go.

Your donation today will help us:

  • Expand our reach, so we can serve more youth
  • Provide youth in our programs with a high level of care
  • Provide food, clothes, basic needs for youth
  • Use research and technology to improve how we connect with youth
  • Increase our anti-human trafficking work

Last year, 15,000+ items of clothing gave youth dignity and confidence.

You can help youth grow into themselves.

The Warm Embrace goes beyond helping a youth in need. CHV delivers programs and wraparound supports to best serve the youth in our care. Our goal is to maximize our impact, so young people can maximize their potential.

Ali’s Story

Ali had to leave home because they were not accepted for who they are. They were couch surfing at friends’ homes and came to CHV after hearing about us from a local 2SLGBTQIA+ organization. They were placed in the Crisis Program where they worked on their mental health, took part in recreational activities, and started working on themselves. At CHV, Ali started to set goals for their future.

Your donation today will help us:

  • Connect youth with affordable, appropriate housing
  • Develop an alumni community, for youth to share experiences and knowledge
  • Enhance partnerships to connect youth to the resources they need

Covenant House Vancouver has helped 500+ youth find a safe place to call home, over the last 5 years.

You can help someone on their journey home.

The Bridge Back means helping youth create and maintain stability, as they look to the future, to prevent the reoccurrence of homelessness. It’s providing youth with the tools to succeed on their own. Our goal is to foster lasting outcomes for a lifetime of success.

Amara’s Story

Amara had been in the foster care system from a young age and moved from home to home, every couple of years. After a particularly bad situation, she left, and moved from shelter to shelter. She still had a job and bills she needed to pay. One day, she stopped by CHV’s Drop-In Centre and a youth worker told her about our Rights of Passage program. She quickly moved in and thrived in the program, enjoying all of the life skills workshops that taught her the importance of cooking and budgeting. She then moved into community housing.
