Covey’s Cupboard
Food is a basic need and a human right. It is also an important part of a person’s ability to survive.
With the cost of living on the rise, some young people have to make the decision of either paying rent or buying food.
In partnership with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, CHV has developed a grocery service known as Covey’s Cupboard, to help youth meet their nutritional needs.
Once a week, young people, age 16–24, are able to fill their grocery bags with a variety of fresh, frozen, canned, and dry foods. Each youth shops privately, and can pick the foods they want, which gives youth their dignity and freedom of choice.
This service is available through our Drop-In Centre. Covey’s Cupboard is open 7 days a week:
- Mon: 9am–5pm
- Tues: 9am–5pm
- Wed: 9am–11am, 1:30pm–5pm
- Thursday: 9am–5pm
- Friday–Sunday: 9am–7pm
To find out more about this service, young people can call 604-685-7474, or toll free at 1-877-685-7474.
