Recreation

We view recreation as an important part of our wraparound care.

It is incredibly beneficial for youth because it:

  • Develops social skills, and builds connections
  • Reduces stress
  • Increases confidence
  • Creates a sense of accomplishment
  • Improves physical health and mental health

At Covenant House Vancouver, recreation can take many forms, such as:

  • Access to a multifunctional gym for activities like basketball, pickleball, and movie nights, a well-equipped fitness room, and a wellness room for activities like yoga, meditation, and prayer
  • Working with a trainer to reach physical goals
  • External physical activities, like soccer and hockey
  • Excursions such as hiking, cycling, walks, and going for ice cream or bubble tea
  • Learning an instrument or jamming in our music room
  • Jam nights in the Drop-In Centre
  • Attending cultural events and celebrations
  • Open sessions in the art studio
  • Playing video games
  • Attending live shows
