Recreation
We view recreation as an important part of our wraparound care.
It is incredibly beneficial for youth because it:
- Develops social skills, and builds connections
- Reduces stress
- Increases confidence
- Creates a sense of accomplishment
- Improves physical health and mental health
At Covenant House Vancouver, recreation can take many forms, such as:
- Access to a multifunctional gym for activities like basketball, pickleball, and movie nights, a well-equipped fitness room, and a wellness room for activities like yoga, meditation, and prayer
- Working with a trainer to reach physical goals
- External physical activities, like soccer and hockey
- Excursions such as hiking, cycling, walks, and going for ice cream or bubble tea
- Learning an instrument or jamming in our music room
- Jam nights in the Drop-In Centre
- Attending cultural events and celebrations
- Open sessions in the art studio
- Playing video games
- Attending live shows
