Social Work
The social work team is part of our integrated Case Management team, who create a holistic approach to caring for young people.
Social workers, as well as the rest of the team, use a trauma-informed approach in their support of the youth we serve. Understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of trauma, as well as focusing on physical, psychological, and emotional safety, helps youth rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.
Once a youth is assigned a social worker, that social worker is with them for their whole journey, as long as that takes.
To best support youth, social workers work with the Case Management team, youth workers, life skills coordinators, community transition workers, and external organizations, to focus and build upon the unique gifts and strengths that the young people possess.
Social workers help youth:
- Create and achieve short- and long-term goals that include personal, educational, career, and community living
- Access external mental, or physical, health services, as needed
- Receive any physical, mental, social, and spiritual support that they request
