It was a hot and smoky afternoon, yet still beautiful and enjoyable to be out on the salty waters of the rivers inlet known as the Indian Arm. Takaya Tour Guides talked about the cultural significance of the canoe and its art designs and well as the paddles we used to row. They shared traditional stories passed on through generations about respect and connection with the wildlife used to feed their communities. We had worked up our appetites paddling hard and after the tour; we headed to Garibaldi Park for a picnic. After our lunch, we participated in a smudge ceremony before heading back to Covenant House Vancouver.
It was a special cultural experience to be part of and we want to thank to Power To Be and Takaya Tours!
