Recently a young woman, Betty, who had previously stayed with us returned to stay at our Crisis Program
. Staff and all the youth who were interested went to the Burnaby Heritage Museum
to enjoy some Christmas spirit and ride the carousel. After a bit of encouragement from staff Betty agreed to go with staff on the outing. But said she was a bit of a Grinch around Christmas as she had spent the last few Christmas’s on the street.
After walking around and seeing all the Christmas lights, a partridge in a pear tree, nine ladies dancing, eating some mini donuts, drinking hot cocoa and riding the carousel, everybody was in a cheerful Christmassy mood.
Self-proclaimed Grinch Betty was even heard saying, this is the best Christmas ever, and it’s not even Christmas yet.
