Honour an inspiring woman in your life

This past Sunday we celebrated International Women’s Day, and upon reflecting on that theme, what came to mind was the extraordinary role that women staff and volunteers play each and every day here at Covenant House Vancouver.

Their resilience, empathy and creativity absolutely inspire us. And we know the youth that access our services feel the exact same way.

Is there a woman in your life that inspires you? Someone that makes your day brighter, or gives you a sense of hope for the future? If there is, we wonder if you would consider making a gift to homeless youth in honour of that inspiring woman in your life.

Your gift will be put to work immediately.

You’ll help by providing food, shelter and mental health care for young people in need. But beyond that, you will fund important long-term supports, like our Life Skills program, that empowers young women and men by teaching them basic skills like cooking, cleaning, and budgeting (every day tasks that we might take for granted, but that they—through no fault of their own—were not able to learn while growing up).

Alyssa’s video below gives you a first-hand perspective on why our Life Skills program is so important.

But in short, by honouring a woman in your life this International Women’s Day, you’ll not only show someone that you care, but you’ll also make a huge impact in the lives of young people that need unconditional love and absolute respect.
