Our 9th Annual Sleep Out: Executive Edition raises over $1,082,932.37!

Executives, community and business leaders slept apart but together last night in solidarity with young people facing homelessness to raise critical funds for our Crisis Program.

Sleep Out: Executive Edition was a little diffferent this year because of the ongoing global pandemic and we shifted to a virtual event for everyone’s safety. But our sleepers still came together while remaining separate because all youth deserve a safe place to sleep, especially during this time when housing is health care.

An online panel consisting of current and former youth shared their personal experiences with homelessness and how Covenant House Vancouver supported them on their journeys.

One young person shared, “the care and support is not only individualized, it’s all around support. So any aspect of your life that is needing to have that extra push of navigation is covered.”

Breakout sessions with frontline staff members followed and a number of topics were discussed from COVID-19, to grief and loss, mental health, and the opioid crisis.

The morning reflection provided sleepers an opportunity to share about their experience. One sleeper shared, “It was humbling to physically feel the elements.”

A huge thank you to our sleepers and their supporters for your commitment to helping youth build a brighter future!

Donations to Sleep Out: Executive Edition are still being accepted.
