Thank you to LandlordBC for providing relentless support to youth

Today, we want to give a huge shout out to LandlordBC. They are some amazing partners of ours who have been supporting the young people here at CHV in a variety of different ways over the past 17 years. From providing direct financial support, to offering rental housing initiatives that are vital to the health of housing in our community (especially for vulnerable populations), they have been relentless and so creative in their generosity.

In ordinary times, LandlordBC’s CEO, David Hutniak, and his team would spend countless hours each year to coordinate their Annual Golf Tournament & Charity Fundraiser to raise vital funds for Covenant House Vancouver. But when the COVID-19 pandemic began, it became clear this key event would have to be put on hold. Not missing a beat, the LandlordBC team began brainstorming how they could still raise money for an organization that is dear to their hearts.

So, the LandlordBC team eagerly agreed to sign up for Sleep Out: Home Edition last year—to give up their beds for one night to raise funds. They almost doubled their initial fundraising goal thanks to the many individuals and organizations that generously supported them. Their amazing Sleep Out team raised over $8,270.

This year, thinking creatively again because they were still not able to host their annual golf tournament, LandlordBC hosted a Virtual Education Day. This online event hosted a number of presentations for people to learn more about rental housing and how to be an effective landlord. Registration for the event was “by donation” and proceeds went Covenant House Vancouver. Overall, they were able to raise over $11,000 for the youth here at CHV!

Thank you, LandlordBC, for being such a relentless supporter of Covenant House.
