Good nutrition can help a young person move from surviving to thriving!

Food and nutrition are vital to our young people. Many of them have struggled with having enough to eat in the past and often come to us malnourished.

When they arrive at Covenant House Vancouver, youth are provided with nutritious, filling, and delicious meals and snacks. The incredible food our Kitchen Team prepares is just one way we help youth go from surviving to thriving.

A meal lovingly prepared is truly a powerful thing. It can be that key stepping-stone for youth as they work towards their goals and dreams for the future. It fuels our youth as they look for employment, learn important life skills, and work through past traumas.

Marc, one of our Housing Support Workers, could not resist sharing about a recent meal the Kitchen Team prepared: “This morning I arrived at the Drop-In Centre and noticed the menu board from last night… I had to take a picture!  Butternut squash risotto, chopped baked ham, spiced tofu, grilled and steamed mushrooms, green lentil soup, cake.  I’m sure it was delicious!”
