Joy MacPhail appointed to the Order of Canada

Congratulations to Joy MacPhail for being appointed by the Governor General to the Order of Canada. Joy is being recognized for her pioneering contributions to politics and for her tireless advocacy of underserved and marginalized communities.

Joy MacPhail served as an elected member of British Columbia’s Legislative Assembly representing Vancouver-Hastings from 1991 to 2005. During this time, she served in a variety of roles, including Minister of Health, Minister of Finance, Deputy Premier, and Leader of the Opposition.

In 2021, Joy was the recipient of two prestigious awards: Business in Vancouver’s Lifetime Achievement Award as part of that newspaper’s Influential Women in Business Awards; and the YWCA Women of Distinction in the category of Business and Professions.

She is an experienced board member having served on several boards, and we are lucky and privileged to have Joy as a Covenant House Vancouver Board Member.

Congratulations, Joy MacPhail, for this well-deserved and most prestigious honour!
