A love letter to our Facilities Team!

We started 2022, with freezing temperatures, snow, and saw dramatic increases of the Covid-19 Omicron variant.

These have been challenging times for everyone and we want to highlight the outstanding efforts of a special team at Covenant House Vancouver – our Facilities and Operations Team.

This incredible group of people ensures our spaces are clean and welcoming, that the young people have delicious, nutritious food and during the pandemic have ensured young people and staff have safe, sanitized living and workspaces.

With Omicron being such a quick-spreading variant, our Facilities Team has been working even harder. And this is an incredibly hard-working group anytime – this amazing team directly supports young people every, single day.

In a shared living environment like our Crisis Program, proper and thorough cleaning is always required. But with Covid-19 and Omicron, it means extra cleaning and very specific sanitization methods.

A room and bed can not be given to a young person seeking support until they are cleaned and sanitized. Recently, we had several rooms that need to be cleaned and “turned over” in our Crisis Program.

Of course, the team jumped into action and their quick work meant young people were able to immediately receive care and be welcomed into the Crisis Program.

They ensured youth did not have to wait for a bed, that when they needed help, and we could welcome them in with no delay.

We applaud this inspiring team for ensuring young people and the CHV Community have safe, healthy spaces to live and work in. Thank you for all you do!
