With phase two of our Expansion Project nearing completion, we wait with eager anticipation for what our new spaces will offer to youth experiencing homelessness in our community. The new 10-storey building will have a variety of purpose-designed rooms. This means we can better provide all-encompassing care to the young people that come to Covenant House Vancouver seeking sanctuary. Needless to say, we’re looking forward to having these new spaces open up so that these amazing youth can enjoy them.
Yes, there’s still work to be done before we open up this new building. But we can still take a peek inside and imagine the possibilities.
Youth Common Room
Every floor dedicated to our Crisis Program consists of youth living spaces. These include bedrooms with private bathrooms and a common area for youth to study, hangout, or unwind at the end of the day.
Imagine what we could do in this space to foster healthy connections, provide opportunities for rest, or simply create moments of laughter and joy:
Gymnasium
The brand-new gym is a dedicated exercise space for youth to engage in physical activity. Here they can also build healthy habits that support their overall well-being. It’s also a place to build community and gather for a variety of purposes.
Imagine what we could do in this space:
Kitchen and Dining Room
In some ways, the kitchen and dining room are the heart of the building. It’s the place where the young people go to get the nourishment to power them through the day. A warm meal can also be the first encounter between Covenant House Vancouver and a new face—the initial interaction that allows us to build trust and start on a journey towards a brighter future.
Imagine what kind of meals we can put together for these amazing young people—to add a little extra love and care to show them that they’re worth it:
