World Food Day

World Food Day was founded by the United Nations’ (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. It has been observed annually, since 1981. The purpose of World Food Day is to raise awareness of world hunger and poverty and to try and create solutions for change.

With the pandemic, the rising costs of food, and inflation, we have seen an increase in the need for food, by those who access CHV’s services.

Some of you may have heard of Covey’s Cupboard. It started out as a pilot project to see if vulnerable youth required a resource to access groceries. It soon became apparent that there was a great need for such a service. The demand quickly became greater than the supply.

Today, if you can, reach out and support someone in need, or support an organization who reaches out to those in need. A community can only thrive if everyone thrives.
