Spread Holiday Cheer with Our Backpack Campaign

The holiday season embodies warmth, togetherness, and the joy of giving. While many eagerly anticipate festive gatherings and gift exchanges, it’s crucial to recognize the challenges faced by youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness, during this time. At Covenant House Vancouver, we’re committed to making the holidays special for the young people in our care.

What Goes in the Backpack?

Our holiday backpacks aim to provide essentials and a touch of holiday cheer. Here’s what we’re looking to include (in gender-neutral colours):

  • Socks (male)
  • Boxer brief underwear (all sizes)
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Toothpaste (travel size preferred)
  • Toothbrushes
  • Deodorant (male/female)
  • Hairbrushes
  • Shaving cream
  • T-shirts
  • Hoodies
  • Gift cards ($5, $10, $20)

How You Can Make a Difference

Your support drives this holiday initiative that fills backpacks with hope and kindness. Beyond addressing physical needs, these backpacks offer comfort and emotional support that remind recipients that they are not alone. Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Donate: Your financial contributions are invaluable for purchasing backpack items and organizing the holiday party.
  • Collect Items: Host a donation drive to gather warm clothing, toiletries, and other essentials. Every contribution counts.
  • Spread the Word: Share this initiative with friends, family, and colleagues. More awareness means more support.

This holiday season, join us in filling a backpack with kindness, for young individuals, age 16–24, to show your support and give them hope. Your generosity can make a significant difference in their lives. We’re accepting donations and gifts-in-kind until December 15th.
