Tonight, Covenant House Vancouver will host Sleep Out: Champions Edition.
There are 500–1,000 young people without a safe place to sleep every night in Metro Vancouver. Each of them has a story, a dream, and a future.
Sleep Out participants advocate for those futures. Our community of professionals, companies, influencers, and individuals give up their beds for one night to ensure that young people overcoming homelessness can sleep safely at Covenant House Vancouver.
Tonight’s sleepers are raising money for mental health support across all programs and services and would greatly appreciate any donations.
Did you know?
- About 17% of British Columbians — approximately 800,000 people — are experiencing a mental illness or substance use issue today.
- An estimated 84,000 children and youth in BC have a diagnosed mental disorder, yet less than one-third of those children who seek help are receiving mental health services.
The time to support young people has never been greater.
Thanks to the generosity of YVR, all donations, up to $50,000, made for Sleep Out: Champions Edition will be matched for double the impact!
In a recent interview with Nigel Bennett, Kim Wing, Manager, Special Events at CHV, talks about the importance of Sleep Out: Champions Edition and why your support makes such a difference in the lives of at-risk youth.
This year, we have a record-breaking 146 participants that will be sleeping out in the alley behind CHV. There will also be sleepers who are participating virtually in tonight’s event.
It’s not too late to participate! Whether you support an individual, a team, or the Sleep Out cause, your donation will be matched by YVR!
We would like to thank all participants, donors, YVR, and anyone who advocates for vulnerable youth. Together, we can make real change.
We would also like to thank YVR, Science World, City Hall, and Burrard Street Bridge who are all lighting up in support of Sleep Out, so look for CHV blue and yellow this evening.
