Celebrating National Philanthropy Day at Covenant House Vancouver

This November 15 is National Philanthropy Day where we recognize the impact that philanthropy has on communities and individuals.

Our Philanthropy team is pivotal to the work we do at Covenant House Vancouver. We are 80% privately funded. This means:

  • We rely upon individual donors and organizations, in order to do the work that we do
  • We can more easily adjust our programs to meet the needs of youth

Every year, over 50,000 people step up to support CHV. Their donations, of all sizes, enable us to reach youth whose futures are precarious. When a single youth changes their path, with support from CHV, our community, our city, and our province benefit.
Still, too many young people remain on Vancouver’s streets and, on occasion, we have to turn them away because our supported housing is at capacity. By raising funds, we can expand our programs to better serve youth. Philanthropy is key to making a difference in a youth’s life.
Today is a day to reflect on the meaning of giving and to acknowledge the vital role that the Philanthropy team plays in improving lives of the people they serve.

On today’s National Day of Philanthropy, we are especially grateful to organizations like Scotiabank, who is contributing $50,000, matching every dollar donated, until December 31.
