Covey’s Cupboard

Food and nutrition are vital to our young people, as many of them have struggled with having enough to eat and often come to us malnourished. When they arrive at Covenant House Vancouver, our youth are provided with healthy, filling and delicious meals. Food is a great way to show youth we care and can be a great tool to start to build a relationship with a young person.

Our Outreach Team travels on foot and provides granola bars, sandwiches and juice boxes to youth who are living, or at risk of living, on Vancouver’s streets. Our Drop-In provides a hot breakfast Monday to Friday and a variety of full hot meals and snacks throughout the week as well.

Our Drop-In has started a new program as well called Covey’s Cupboard. Youth can access a food bag once a month and bags are created both for youth who are housed as well as for those who are living on the streets. There is mixture of easy, ready to eat food as well as some that require minor preparations. Young people can choose from options like vegetarian and pork free.

We are thrilled to offer youth another option to receive healthy, nutritious food. Much of the food provided is donated and if you would like to learn more about donating food click here.
