Our youth cooking group recently made ground beef burritos. They made a variety of toppings to go on the burritos including black beans, jalapenos, onions and chipotle salsa. The youth also leaned how to make pico del gallo from scratch.
The group was impressed by how cheap it is to make a meal like this since all the ingredients only came to $15 (for 6 servings). They also discovered that the meal would be great if they wanted leftovers. Cooking on a budget is a great life skill for them to learn.
After eating their delicious creations the youth wrote down the recipes in their notebooks and brainstormed ideas for the next class.
