Our dear Walkstar gets recognized as a “Good Neighbour”

Today, we just want to celebrate the news that one of our long-time donors, Dawn Moore, was recently recognized as the 2020 “Good Neighbour” by Lynn Valley Life.

Dawn has been supporting us for some time. But about 6 years ago, her and a friend decided to start a meetup group called the Walkstars as a way of staying motivated to go out for walks regularly. The group grew and grew, with Dawn and her husband Paddy coordinating the walking routes.

At each meetup, Dawn would also invite walkers to pitch in with an optional donation to Covenant House Vancouver. A loonie here, and a twoonie there…but over time it adds up! Throughout the years, the Walkstars have been very generous. One step at a time, they have made such an important impact in the lives of homeless and at-risk youth.

Because of support like theirs, we’re able to do all we can in accompanying youth to achieve their goals. For example, our Social Workers do so much work in providing a complete continuum of care that encompasses all the different aspects of a young person’s life.

We’re so happy that Dawn has been recognized in this way. It’s such an inspiring story! And it’s a great reminder that an action that might seem small can really have such a big impact for those in need.
